‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18: Erin Andrews, Tom Bergeron talk new gig for first time
Over the weekend, the news broke that Erin Andrews was going to be heading to “Dancing with the Stars” as the new co-host, and it didn’t take too much time after that for the sportscaster (as well as host Tom Bergeron) to issue some of their first comments on the matter.
While Erin made her first comment on her move to join the series early in the day, the fun really didn’t start (as per usual) until Tom chimed in with a goofy zinger. Here is what he specifically wrote in a post on his Twitter:
“Welcome back to #dwts @ErinAndrews. It’ll be like when we co-hosted the Scripps Spelling Bee but with easier words!”
We actually would not be nearly so confident in the fact that there are easier words on this show … mostly because there are some pretty difficult last names to pronounce on this show sometimes. (Also, it took us a week or two to get Bruno Tonioli’s name correct.)
Erin did respond to Tom with a fun little message of her own, especially since it was a nice callback to some of her own triumphs and turmoils on the dance floor many years ago with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy:
“Love u @Tom_Bergeron!! I can’t wait..and the best part is I won’t be getting 7’s from Len and yelled at for not pointing my toes! #winner.”
There is a good bit that Erin can gain from this show, especially when it comes to improving her reputation somewhat after being thought of somewhat as an interviewer that could come across as either cold or distant. This show is about embracing your inner silly, and when you are watching Bruno throw his arms around in the air, there are many opportunities for comedy to occur.
Are you excited to see Erin start the gig, or still understandably skeptical?
