‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: ‘Emmerdale’ star to work with Jenna Coleman
The latest addition to “Doctor Who” season 8 has just been announced, and this is a man who could be quite familiar with the Clara Oswald character.
The BBC announced this week that Samuel Anderson, who is rather well-known for his role on “Emmerdale” and “The History Boys,” is going to recur on the upcoming season in the role of Danny Pink. He is a fellow teacher at the school where Jenna Coleman’s character works, at least when she is not traveling through space and time with the help of The Doctor.
Speaking about this new role, the actor had the following to say in a statement:
“I was so exited to join Doctor Who I wanted to jump and click my heels, but I was scared I might not come down before filming started! … It’s a quintessential part of British culture and I can’t believe I’m part of it. It’s an honour to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can’t wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!”
There is no confirmed premiere date yet for the new season, but the expectation we have for it is that new episodes are going to start up in either August or September. Given that the plan is for the show to run consecutive episodes every week, it cannot really start any later than this and have the show still work.
