‘American Idol XIII’ top 13 spoilers: Theme revealed; Candice Glover, Jake Bugg to perform
Now that we know the top 13 on “American Idol XIII,” we now turn to what is the next order of business: Figuring out just what in the world they are going to sing.
Based on the official press release from Fox, the theme for the episodes ahead is going to be none other than “This Is Me.” We assume that what this means is that the artists are going to find songs to perform that they really identify with, and show off their talent as an artist. It’s a little bit out there, but this is a million times better than another Motown Week. We’re very find on letting that one have a season (or four) off.
As for the results-show lineup, get ready to see reigning champion Candice Glover back on the show to perform a medley of “Cried” and “Same Kinda Man.” It’s nice to see her get some more promotion; while we don’t necessarily feel like she is being ignored in the promotional circuit given that she was on “The View” performing her music, it’s also difficult to release an album in February. She really needs what little bit of extra help that she can possibly get. She is being joined on the show by up-and-comer Jake Bugg. You may not know his name now, but we feel like you probably will be the end of the year. This is still a break from tradition for the show to highlight someone who is more of a rising star than someone who will generate ratings; maybe that is part of the new plan by the show’s new producers.
