‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 finale spoilers (PBS): Paul Giamatti, Laura Carmichael stories
When the “Downton Abbey” season 4 finale first aired in the UK, it was designed as their Christmas Special, and an episode that could in some ways be seen as a standalone hour of TV. Even if you missed parts of the season, you are going to get a chance with this episode to come in relatively fresh … though with that being said, a couple of major stories are going to carry over.
For example, let’s talk Edith. The last you saw, she was setting up to have her baby delivered in Switzerland, and by the time this episode picks up, the child will have already be welcomed in the world. The question that comes with this is whether or not she is going to be particularly okay with this situation after returning to London.
This episode will be set mostly in the city, as see one of the biggest royal events to date on this show. This means a variety of fancy costumes, and also an opportunity to meet a number of new faces. One of those said faces is going to be Paul Giamatti, who is coming over for the special as Harold, the brother to Elizabeth McGovern’s character of Cora. He has a variety of fun moments in here, and he also has a story involving at least one of the servants.
The only other major teaser that we’ll give you for the time being? That the big story tonight when it comes to Anna and Bates is not completely over with yet.

Giamatti doesn’t have a story with one of the servants. It is with a friend of Rose and her father.
