‘The Simpsons’ season 25 to air Lego episode following success of ‘The Lego Movie’
While there have been plans in place for there to be a Lego-themed episode of “The Simpsons” for some time, we imagine that the blockbuster success of “The Lego Movie,” which has also become a surprise hit with many critics, have caused the network to be even more focused when it come to finding a good date. Well, the producers of the show have found it, and the likes of Homer and Marge will be transferring over to Lego form just in time for the May sweeps.
Fox announced on Sunday that the episode airing on Sunday, May 4 is going to feature the Lego versions of all of the characters. As for the story, Homer is going to find himself trapped in a world where all of the residents of Springfield have become Lego. The same goes for many of the famed locations. The official logline here for the installment (entitled “Brick Like Me”) asks what is a question stuffed full of great puns:
“Can he ‘put together’ how he got there and somehow figure out how to get home before he is stuck in a world of bricks forever?”
There are so many smart reasons to put this episode out there, with the biggest one from the show’s standpoint simply being that it gets people talking about “The Simpsons” again. Typically these days, that only happens either when there are contract negotiations, or a notable guest star is stopping by.
This is obviously not the first time that the show has made the move to go with a different form of animation. We’ve seen Katy Perry surrounded by puppet versions of the characters before, and there was also that famous episode that featured characters in the realm of 3D animation.
All in all, this seems to be a net positive. If you hate it for whatever reason, the simplest advice that we can give you is to wait a week. After all, at that point you will have another regular episode to enjoy.
