‘Two and a Half Men’ season 11, ‘The Crazy Ones’ swap spots; what does it mean?

Is CBS getting a little too cute with their scheduling today? We have a feeling that there are some out there who’ll probably think so based on this report, but we don’t quite see it this way.

The big news coming out is that “Two and a Half Men” season 11 is going to be shifting forward a half hour, whereas “The Crazy Ones” will be moving backward. They will air in opposite order starting on Thursday, February 27, with the Ashton Kutcher show airing at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. What’s the reason for this? We suspect that it has something to do with ratings and continuity. Since “The Crazy Ones” has not held on to its lead-in from “The Millers” the same way that CBS was probably hoping from it, we figure that they are going to look instead to plant “Two and a Half Men” to keep some of that sitcom base watching longer. If the same viewers are going to watch “The Crazy Ones” regardless, maybe they can at least test the “Two and a Half Men” ratings out this way and see if it still has any further life in it. (It is on the bubble for season 12, mostly because of a high price tag.)

“The Crazy Ones” is going to include its run in April, and on April 24, the new comedy “Bad Teacher” is going to premiere in that spot, and hope to capitalize on the success of that feature film. This feels like the sort of comedy that could have a pretty solid premiere, but drop fairly quickly after that if it doesn’t have the quality behind it to stick around.
