‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Maisie Williams teases dark side of Aria
Have you enjoyed a slightly more likable and heroic Arya Stark on “Game of Thrones” during its run on HBO? Well we have a feeling that you are going to be somewhat disappointed with what is coming up. We are no longer firmly in the camp of seeing Arya as one of the show’s nicer characters, and someone who is going to be okay with training to fight rather than really getting into the nitty-gritty. If you’ve read the George R.R. Martin books already, then you have a little bit of an idea about what is coming the rest of the way.
For more on all of this, why not turn to Maisie Williams herself? Speaking to E! News, the actress behind the role gives at least a general outlook for what will be coming Aria’s way the rest of the season:
“Arya’s really changing this year and I’m not sure people are going to like who she’s becoming … She’s turning a lot darker and she’s not quite as fun as she used to be… It’s a different Arya than we’ve seen before.”
Arya certainly has the motivation to become the Westeros version of a vigilante, given that she has had so many terrible things at this point done to both her and her family. Both her older brother Robb, her mother Catelyn, and her father Ned are dead, and she really has no clue what is happening with the rest of her siblings.
Excited to see this new side of Aria, or are you firmly in the camp that she was doing exactly everything that you wanted to see from her in the first place?
