‘Sons of Anarchy,’ ‘The Shield’ favorite joins ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ pilot
The cast of “NCIS: New Orleans” is finding itself pretty great cast in a very short amount of time!
Following the news earlier in the day that Scott Bakula of “Enterprise” and “Men of a Certain Age” is going to be joining the proposed “NCIS” spin-off as a potential series regular, another familiar TV face is doing the same thing. CCH Pounder, whose credits include “The Shield” as well as the sixth season of “Sons of Anarchy,” has signed on to play the part of Dr. Wade, the medical examiner for Jefferson Parish. Basically, she could be this show’s version of Ducky. She is incredibly smart, deeply tied to Louisiana, and also very resourceful within her profession. Of course, there are also some drawbacks in here, given that she has also been stamped with the label of people a little bit eccentric.
The backdoor pilot for this spin-off is expected to last a grand total of two weeks on “NCIS,” and will feature a good many characters crossing over. After all, you have to remember here that Mark Harmon is set to be an executive producer on this new project, so it make sense that he would be involved to a certain degree with what takes place (even through his character of Gibbs).
Now, what we do wonder is how this gig could end up impacting what Pounder does already on “Sons of Anarchy,” being that she has a role over there of D.A. Patterson. She was a threat to Jax Teller and all of SAMCRO through much of season 6, and there could have been a number of opportunities for her to return if she was interested in doing so. It is going to be interesting to see if there is anything that will need to be changed due to this new gig or not.
