‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Peter Capaldi’s costume causes huge flurry of sales
In what has to be some of the most predictable “Doctor Who” news to be ever unveiled to date, it turns out that fans of the BBC sensation are really rather enormous fans to the point that they are already doing everything that they can to pick up versions of the now-famous coat worn by Peter Capaldi in the attached photo.
Sales of this coat made by Crombie, an upscale British fashion retailer, have gone through the roof since the costume was first announced, according to the Daily Mirror. To think, all of this is happening even when you remember the news that these coats cost nearly 800 British pounds to pick up. That’s not the sort of money that you would assume that most fans of the show would have lying around, though there may be a good many of them with a vested interest in dressing like the real thing.
Do we see a certain benefit of getting the actual coat? Of course we do, given that it is the most authentic outfit out of anything that you could but to try to emulate this version of this character. The other most-notable part of this outfit? The Doc Martens, which are traditionally much more easy to afford.
However, there is also a nerdy part of us that still feels like if you are a true fan of the series, the #1 thing that you are going to do to try and make your outfit as authentic as possible is to try and make your version of the costume yourself. After all, thousands upon thousands of Whovians have been doing this to show off their designing skills for a generation.
Would you want to cosplay as this Doctor more so than some of the others out there? (Personally, we’d dress up as Capaldi over Tom Baker’s in a heartbeat.) Share some of your thoughts below, and also be sure to click here in the event that you haven’t heard yet all of the super-nice things that anyone and everyone associated with the franchise is saying about Capaldi.

Dr Who only exploded with popularity because Matt Smith was the best. I quote ” He was born to play The Doctor” by fans & peers. That has NEVER been said about ANY of the previous actors. Replacing him with Capaldi will prove to be a huge mistake. People around the world will slowly stop watching & Dr. Who will once again become a small silly BBC production.
