‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: Meet the characters for ‘How I Met Your Dad’
While there is no word as of yet on if the “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off “How I Met Your Dad” is going to happen, we can at least tell you a little bit now a detail or two about the characters that are going to be a part of this series.
Let’s first of all start by addressing what has been a big rumor over the past month: We haven’t seen any shred of evidence that Lyndsy Fonseca is actually going to be in that. Given that this series is not about Ted’s daughter Penny, and that it would make little sense for her to appear as a different character on this show, we have a hard time seeing that she would be cast … even if she is fantastic.
According to TVLine, here are the five characters that are being brought on board as a part of this new project:
Sally – Obviously, the Ted of the show in that she’s the narrator, and also a woman who is seeking the eventual love of her life. She’s described as being very energetic, but has a sort of whimsy about her a la Peter Pan, where she never really wants to grow up fully. Also, she is strongly considering divorcing her husband Gavin, which makes her at least a little bit different than the never-married Ted.
Juliet – The owner of a fashion blog, and Sally’s best friend. In theory, she sounds somewhat like the show’s version of Barney. Also, why do we have to have another female blogger character after both “Girls” and “Sex and the City”?
Danny – Sally’s older brother, who she moves in with after her making the decision to split from Gavin. There are going to be times when he is not entirely thrilled with this decision. This comparison is a little bit tricky, but we’ll go with Lily since is there for her, but not always in the same way as others.
Todd – Danny’s husband, and a fairly kind man who Sally has been friends with for some time. To us, this is the Marshall of the group.
Frank – This is the character who is the hardest to connect to the rest. He’s most like Robin in that he is a little more of an outsider, but he also sounds more firmly like a love interest for Juliet than for Sally.
