‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: No major romance for Michael Weatherly’s Tony soon
Even though you may seen from time to time Agent DiNozzo either flirt or take about romance on “NCIS” season 11 lately, the overarching sentiment when it comes to most of it is pretty simple: It doesn’t mean anything at all. Rather than trying to rush him into a relationship in a post-Ziva world, the ultimately goal for Michael Weatherly’s character is still going to be to give him some time, and then possibly consider the prospect of romance down the road.
In his latest quote on this hotly-contentious topic to TVLine, showrunner Gary Glasberg explained that the real story long-term for Tony is to keep him single. He also explains what some of his recent flirtations are all about:
“I don’t think his next relationship is going to happen anytime soon. Part of letting Tony be Tony and letting him be flirtatious and talk to women is that these women don’t really matter. They’re quick encounters that he’s having; it’s not Ziva. They’re not ones that count. Eventually, will there be another [great love]? Maybe.”
What we are just as curious about now when it comes to Tony is what could come next in his professional life. He is clearly very good at his job, and beyond experienced in it. Is this a time that he strives for something more? Without a romantic partner to really focus on, he could become all about his career. That’s at least one way to think about what his future the rest of the way could be like.
“NCIS” will be back in February with its next new episode, which is going to help to tie together the Parsa saga for the time being, and also show more of Delilah’s attempts at recovery after she suffered a terrible injury from the bombing.

Tony is part of the NCIS team. He wants to be there. He turned down Rota in Spain just as Tim later turned down his own team in Okinawa Japan. Not everyone in life wants to be promoted to the leader of the pack. You know, too many chiefs, not enough Indians. You can’t have Tony being in two teams for goodness sakes.

These characters all had personality flaws which suited their storylines. (EJ, Ray, Ryan). Not every character that comes to NCIS is suppose to fit the persona of
‘one character fits all’. Bishop is new and needs time to evolve more. Why is it that people expect ‘villian’ type characters to be much loved and ‘part of the NCIS peas in a pod’ mode.

Maybe they should actually send Tony to NOLA. Does anyone really think Glasberg will be able to develop a good team for NOLA? There is not one character he has ever created that has been liked by most people. At least with Tony there they actually stand a change of succeeding.
PS. Some people can like Glasberg’s characters and they are allowed to but it is a fact that most of his characters are not liked by the majority (EJ, Ryan, Ray, Bishop).

Give him some good storylines – there’s scope now he’s not forced to play sidekick to Ziva anymore (thank god) and get him back working with Gibbs more often, they’re good together.

who said anything about Tony leaving the show? He could get a promotion and still be on the show. CSI did it a bunch of times and it was a good thing.

If Tony was promoted in-house, it would mean getting his own team and if TPTB ‘wouldn’t stump up the cash to pay de Pablo what she wanted’ are they gonna splash the cash on THREE actors for his team?????????
If he were to get exiled to NOLA he’d be on his own with no friends and no support (and it took him a long time to feel like he belonged at NCIS in the first place), it would be so sad to see him “afloat” again…..

Keep trying (and failing) to get into NCIS:LA – it just don’t get to me like the mothership.
As for CSI it’s been crap since Warwick was killed off and Grissom left – I feel no emotional attachment to any of the characters anymore (never had any to lose for CSI: Miami, although CSI:NY finished with me still caring about the characters)
Just want my favorite show to keep feelin’ the luv (and not get canceled)….. I will however cancel myself if they bring back (as love interests not murder suspects/victims!) Mann; Hart; Ryan; Wendy; Jeanne; EJ or……….. Ziva.

Well, hopefully this means that Daddy Seniors new girlfriend is totally out of bounds for Tony. That storyline is just wrong ! Poor Tony does not have much to do these day s as Bishop appears to be in charge after Gibbs. Maybe Tony needs to move on!!

glad to hear! Tony has been through hell. He needs a break from dating for a while. And I have said for a LONG time he needs to get out of that job. it is killing him. He is FAR too good of an agent to still be there, and if Gibbs was a good boss, he would have been pushing him out of the nest years ago.

Oh, I think it’s beyond time for Tony to move on and be promoted to team lead, either in DC or elsewhere. He’s been Gibbs’ SFA for so long and learned so much, especially during his time as team lead when Gibbs took his Mexican ‘siesta’, so it’s only logical that the next step for him is to get a promotion.
