‘The Simpsons’ season 25 video: Stan Lee, Harlan Ellison talk guest spot
Are you ready for some more big-name cameos making an appearance on “The Simpsons”? We hope so, since this is something that the show has to be rather known for: Putting people on the screen that you’re familiar with in animated form.
This time around, though, the two guests include at least one person that has been around the series before in comic book icon Stan Lee. Both he and author Harlan Ellison are going to be featured in an episode that features Comic Book Guy, Bart’s desperation to buy a comic, and also these two appearing a way that you can find out about in the video below (via The Hollywood Reporter).
What is perhaps the most interesting thing to us about this episode is that it is going to feature Stan Lee playing a character of Stan Lee then playing an animated version of that. If there is one thing that we have learned over years about the famed artist, it is that he only rarely gives glimpses of himself beyond that sort of inspirational guy who refers to himself as the Generalissimo. We may also be one of the few people who misses that “Who Wants to Be a Superhero?” show that came on the Sci-Fi Channel back before it was known as Syfy, mostly because it was campy fun and Stan always embraces that.
This episode of “The Simpsons” is actually coming off of one of the highest-rated episodes of the past several years, but we cannot sit here and say that it did much of that on its own. Instead, it benefited heavily from an NFL lead-in.
