‘Agents of SHIELD’ spoilers: Stan Lee finds something else to appear in

Would it really be a Marvel product these days without some sort of elaborate cameo from Stan Lee? We certainly doubt it at this point. This is a man who manages to turn up in so many places, you wonder whether or not he even has time to do anything other than film roles and appear at various conventions around the world. The idea that he does it all at age 91 is all the more astounding.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee is going to play a “big role” in an upcoming installment of “Agents of SHIELD” during the February sweeps. The nature of the role is somewhat of a mystery, but he has a habit of playing characters that are not just himself. The adjective of “big” is the real surprise here, mostly because typically his roles are either just background parts, or he has only a line or two of dialogue.

Here is one other interesting note just about the sweeps period in general: It actually starts this year on January 30 thanks to the way in which the schedule was sorted out at the start of the fall. Therefore, this appearance could come as early as January 31. Regardless of when it happens, maybe it will be that sort of thing that really starts to push the show’s ratings back over the top. “Agents of SHIELD” started out as kind of a big deal even on Ron Burgundy proportions, but has since slipped somewhat into a show that does okay, but is below what some expectations were for it going into the year.

What do you think about Stan playing a bigger role on this show: A smart move, or something a little too tongue-in-cheek given that he is usually best in tiny doses? Let us know below!
