‘The Voice’ UK season 3 video: First footage of Ricky Wilson, Kylie Minogue as coaches
On Saturday, you better get ready for the return of the singing shows. It’s only been a month after the end of “The X Factor” over on rival network ITV, but BBC is getting set to debut the third season of “The Voice” UK. This is a show that is coming back on the air a little earlier than usual, and the goal for that seems to be to allow it to find a little bit of its own place on TV rather than just competing against everything else.
Based on what the new promo below shows, there could be a reason to be excited. New coaches Ricky Wilson (of Kaiser Chiefs) and Kylie Minogue seem to fit into the panel very well, and you have Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am continuing to bring their own brand of entertainment to the mix. But, we’re not so worried about the blind auditions being fun. These always are. The concern that we have instead stems more from what happens after these, when you already know the contestants and you have to focus a little more instead on whether or not these people are interesting. Then, you have to find a way to make the coaches look invested in the live shows.
The person who we feel is going to have the biggest challenge of all here is Minogue, mostly because she is replacing someone in Jessie J who was never short on honesty, and actually sharing some sort of feedback when it came to her life and her experience working as a part of the industry. Wilson has a tough task, as well, mostly because Danny O’Donoghue was enormously popular in the two years he was around. As a matter of fact, he may have been the most popular coach of the group.
