‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 12 preview: Penny talks ‘NCIS’ part

On Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” season 7, Penny is going to finally get a big break … or at least a medium-sized one. She’s got a bit part on “NCIS”! Until this point the nature of her role has been a mystery, but now we have a few more details.

As Penny tells Leonard in the new sneak peek below from the episode, she is going to be playing a waitress at a diner who flirts with Mark Harmon’s character of Gibbs. When you think about the show for a minute, this fits pretty well in line with what is traditionally given to us from the Gibbs character. The man has spent more than one occasional in a diner, and Penny should have a lot of experience being a member of the wait staff at this point.

What is mostly funny about the video is simply Leonard’s immediate jealousy of Harmon of all people, and how Amy uses this as an opportunity to inform Sheldon that regardless of whatever is said during this conversation, sometimes not leaving everything to the imagination can be a good move.

This may be a question to think about that only really impacts a small percentage of you, but this episode is going to be pretty awkward for those watching in Canada. Why? This was clearly designed as cross-promotion for CBS while also making sense for Penny, but north of the border “The Big Bang Theory” and “NCIS” air on a different networks. It’s slightly awkward, but then again, this show is so popular we have a hard time thinking that anyone is really going to care that much.

As for one final thing, how hilarious would it be if we ended up seeing this crossover really start to go places to the point where Penny actually made a cameo appearance on “NCIS” in the future? If “Cougar Town” and “Community” were able to do it despite being on different American networks, anything is possible.
