Christmas specials and marathons (December 23): ‘Pawn Stars,’ ‘Hollywood Game Night,’ and ‘Shrek’
December 23 is really when television starts to bust out all of the holiday specials and marathons, and in an effort to try to save you a little bit of time during your frantic holiday season, we’re here to try to share with you some of the events that you really should check out.
If you look below, you can see some of the highlights divided up into two separate categories, and you should take note that all times listed are for the Eastern time zone.
Christmas specials / movies
ABC Family – Pretty much if you watch the network at any point over the next four days, you’re going to get a holiday movie. They are running them non-stop during the hours in which you would actually be awake.
NBC – The finale of “The Sing-Off” (starting at 8:00 p.m.) is going to contain some Christmas music, and the episode of “Hollywood Game Night” that follows has a holiday theme to it as well.
ABC – Prior to the new episode of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” at 9:00, the network will repeat airings of “Shrek the Halls” and “A Chipmunk Christmas.”
The CW – Starting at 8:00 p.m., you can see an iHeartRadio Jingle Ball event featuring some of the top artists in the business.
Marathons
“Duck Dynasty,” 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., A&E – That’s right; the network that banned Phil Robertson will continue to air repeats that feature him prominently. We’ll let you debate the logic of this, but if you’re in the mood for duck calls, you’re going to get plenty of opportunities.
“My Cat From Hell,” 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Animal Planet – Just in case you really wanted to watch twelve straight hours of cats being awful, this is your chance!
“Vanderpump Rules” and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Bravo – Lisa Vanderpump is going to have a very busy day tomorrow. “Vanderpump Rules” leads off the day, and it switches over to the flagship reality show at around 1:00.
“Pawn Stars,” 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., History – Minus the controversy, History is doing the same thing here that A&E is doing with “Duck Dynasty”: Milking it to the last drop.
“Cake Boss,” 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m., TLC – Finally, this is this network’s version of “Pawn Stars.” Buddy Valastro is basically the king of American cake shows, and the fact that he’s getting six hours in a row proves it.
