‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: Daniela Ruah, ‘Allegiance,’ and a joint case

When “NCIS: Los Angeles” returns to television on Tuesday, January 14, it will be doing so with an episode that really manages to bring everyone together. Not only are you going to get a chance to see some more action for Daniela Ruah’s character of Kensi in Afghanistan, but also an opportunity to really combine her story with what is going on back with the team stateside. There have been some opportunities to do this during the season already, but we don’t know if any of them have been done quite as effectively as what we are seeing here.

This episode is entitled “Allegiance,” and if you look below at the official synopsis from CBS, there are a few more details concerning what you can expect:

“While in Afghanistan, Kensi and Granger join the team on a joint case when a federal agent in Los Angeles tied to Hawala, an ancient system of money transfer, is murdered.”

This Afghanistan story has given Ruah the opportunity to do some very different, exciting stuff on the show, and we figure that this is going to continue moving forward in the spring. Eventually, it may also help to allow for an opportunity for her character to be temporarily written out of the show, which will have to happen eventually thanks to her expecting a child with Eric Christian Olsen’s brother. But, this may not be a necessary move for at least a little while longer in the season.

As for why the show is premiering on a different week than “NCIS” in 2014, it’s because CBS is hoping to use one of those weeks in a effort to try and launch their new show “Intelligence” to as big of an audience as possible.
