Barbara Walters names Hillary Clinton Most Fascinating Person of 2013

Tonight on ABC, Barbara Walters hosted her annual “Most Fascinating People of the Year” special, which is typically a combination of craziness, pretentious people, and Barbara asking serious questions to not so serious people. But, there are also some moments that are typically funny, and that was once again the case this year.

But before we get to announcing Barbara’s pick for the Most Fascinating Person of the Year, let’s look briefly at some of her choices, shall we? She had the “Duck Dynasty” family on here (which we can’t blame her for since GQ-gate hadn’t happened at that point), and she also had Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on here (we can blame her for that one). But there were also some inspired choices in here, including Robin Roberts (even if she is another ABC personality) and Edward Snowden. They each represent something very different, but were important to painting the overall picture of the year.

Now, we come to what was the controversial choice of Hillary Clinton as the Most Fascinating Person of 2013. When it comes to Hillary snagging the top spot in theory, we don’t mind. She came across as very articulate and interesting in her interview. But, when you look at the zeitgeist of this year, was she really a headline-grabber? We can’t really say that she would have been even in our personal top 50 for this year, even though she would have been in the top 5 for other years.

But, this is Barbara’s list, and you really can’t lose sight of that. At least she didn’t put a reality star or some other nonsense in this spot.
