‘Homeland’ season 4 spoilers: Morena Baccarin, Morgan Saylor not returning as regulars
The “Homeland” season finale has not even aired, and there is already reason to speculate intensely about the future of the show based on the news that is out there.
According to TVLine, Morena Baccarin (Jess) and Morgan Saylor (Dana) are not going to be returning as series regulars for the fourth season of the show, which should not come as too great of a shock. Both actors have seen their roles decline throughout the season, with it mostly feeling like the Brody family just doesn’t have that much to do anymore. Meanwhile, the Dana character has been in particular the most-hated person on the show, though we think that a certain level of that is unfair. Saylor has done a good job and it does feel like the role is written well for a teenager in this position; it is probably just not what most “Homeland” viewers want to see.
The good news here is that it feels like with her move away from her home and her losing her last name, Dana has already gotten her victory and a normal life back. As for Jess, who knows what becomes of her next? She still has the perpetually-silent Chris to care for, so there’s that. Both actors are invited back to appear as guest stars, though, much in the same way that Diego Klattenhoff was this year.
Now, of course some fans have taken this news as a sign that Nicholas Brody may die in the finale, and it’s somewhat surprising that a major publication got a hold of this news prior to the finale. We don’t feel like it really spoils it one way or another. If he’s dead, there’s obviously no reason to see them; but, even if he is alive, it’s not like the Brody family is going to want to see him all of the time. He may be better off trying to start a new life somewhere …. maybe in that same lumberjack camp that Dexter Morgan is in. (We kid, at least we think.)
