Thanksgiving Week TV: Is ‘Arrow,’ ‘American Horror Story: Coven,’ or ‘CSI’ new tonight?
Just as we’ve been doing for you all Thanksgiving long, we’re here to be your quick-to-find guide for everything that is new on TV this week, and everything that’s going to be in repeats that we cover regularly on the site. We know that this can be a heck of a confusing week thanks to all the various preemption’s, and much of that is thanks to the way in which networks operate around Turkey Day. Typically families are off traveling the days before the holiday, and that means a smaller pool of viewers are available.
Today, we’re talking about Thanksgiving Eve, which is one of the rockiest ratings nights of the year. But still, some networks are deciding to be brave and put something on the air.
New tonight – The entire CBS lineup, which we are assuming is a function mostly of “Survivor” being new. It has to be, in order to finish on time, and CBS can handle lower numbers on the night. Also, you have two hours of “The X Factor,” and also the majority of the network late-night talk shows will be back for more.
Not new tonight (which means either repeats or preemption’s) – NBC is opting with a “Making Of” special for their “Sound of Music” production along with a “Saturday Night Live” special, while ABC is just going for straight repeats. The CW is airing a holiday movie in “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.” Therefore, CBS and Fox are really the only major networks with new shows. For cable viewers, the sad news is that both “Top Chef: New Orleans” and “American Horror Story: Coven” will also be in repeats. While they don’t need the live viewers as much as the major networks do, they certainly want to capitalize and get as many eyeballs as possible. Why wouldn’t they?
We’ll be providing this little service for the rest of the week, so be sure to keep checking back for more. At least Thanksgiving will have some other specials to make up for the loss in new programming.
