‘Criminal Minds’ season 9, episode 10 preview: The call at the center of ‘The Caller’
We still feel somewhat like Wednesday night’s new “Criminal Minds” episode “The Caller” is going to be basically the show’s attempt to bring the world of “The Ring” into the series, but even with that being said, there is still potential for there to be some rather dramatic situations. It appears that there is a child in grave danger, and the only clue for now that the BAU has is a series of phone calls featuring a little boy claiming that he’s “going to get” someone. Following these calls and the parents’ attempts to contact the authorities on the matter, the child was ultimately kidnapped.
What we are mostly curious about after watching this goes beyond just this mystery: Is there going to be anything actually important that happens over the course of the hour? We have a very hard time believing that the show is about to drop any huge shocker on us, mostly because the bizarre decision has been made to air the show on Thanksgiving Eve. They has done this before, so there is a precedent; but, we still don’t understand it, even if there is a new “Survivor” beforehand.
In looking beyond this episode is where you can really expect to see some rather rich stuff, especially when it comes to the 200th episode. There are opportunities to learn more about JJ and some other characters on the team in ways that we haven’t already, and as always with the show, you have the common thought that the further along that it gets, the more likely that you are going to see the arrival of a Big Bad sort of character that comes in and tries to unleash their own brand of chaos.
