Thanksgiving Week TV: Are ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ ‘Agents of SHIELD,’ and ‘NCIS’ new tonight?
Thanksgiving Week can be a confusing one when it comes to keeping track of what is new and what’s not, and that is precisely why we’re here, so that we can make things easier for you! This is the first night of the week that there is really some confusion across the schedule between new programs and repeats, and we understand much of it. After all, this is the first night where the Thanksgiving holiday can really start to somewhat impact ratings.
Let’s start here with what programming will be new episodes. Over on ABC, you’ve got a new “Agents of SHIELD” coupled with the second part of the “Dancing with the Stars” finale, which starts at 9:00 p.m. Eastern and runs until 11. It’s sad in some ways that the ratings have been lower this year, given that this is the best season the show has had in some time when it comes to the casting, and some of the other changes that have been made in order to accommodate the shorter run-time. The show definitely feels like it is a little bit more complete and less drawn-out for the sake of filling time.
Things are also pretty easy to figure out when it comes to some of the other networks, as both Fox and NBC are airing all new-programming, and over on cable, expect to see new episodes of shows like “Snooki & JWoww,” “Awkward,” “Shahs of Sunset,” and others. Most cable programming is operating like any other day, with one major exception: “Sons of Anarchy.” For the first time in the show’s six-year history, FX has opted to not air a new episode tonight, and the final two episodes of the season will start in a week’s time. They are not worried about viewers forgetting about them, and they obviously want to ensure the best ratings possible.
Also in repeats tonight? “NCIS,” at least int he way that “NCIS” is not on the air. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is preempting it, and it will not be on the air tonight. The rest of the lineup will be new.
Finally, fans of The CW should know that both “The Originals” and “Supernatural” are going to be new tonight.
