‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5 spoilers: Will Kelly Macdonald, Gretchen Mol be back in 2014?

Check it out -On Sunday night’s season 4 finale for “Boardwalk Empire,” it was made pretty clear as to which characters we are not going to be seeing on the show moving forward. Namely, the story appears to be over for Richard, who was surprisingly killed off during an episode that most felt was going to be the end instead for Eli.

But rather than Nucky and his brother to go their separate ways moving forward, they are each going to continue to have a role in each other’s lives. If you want to take a look at some more information on this very subject, just take a look at what creator Terence Winter said on this subject to TVLine:

“They will continue to have a relationship and they have things in common in their extended family. And they certainly have business interests in common. They will continue to be in each other’s worlds. How [what transpired in the finale] affects them emotionally and what the real feelings are remains to be seen.”

On the subject of some characters coming back for the next season, the first thing to know is that we are going to be seeing more from Jeffrey Wright following his debut on the show this year. As for some actors who have been on the show a little while longer, but Gretchen Mol and Kelly Macdonald will also be back, and the latter could presumably have a good bit more screen time after she was shelved until the latter half of season 4 (a move that was, per Winter, done for creative reasons since they did not just want to shoehorn her into a story that did not make any sense).

“Boardwalk Empire” season 5 will kick off on HBO next fall, but it will of course be filmed long before that next year. We’ll likely have some more casting information to share on the new season in the spring.

For now, just be sure to click here if you want to read our debate about whether or not the show should come back for more than one season.
