2013 AMAs: See Lady Gaga’s ‘Do Want U Want,’ Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ (video)

AMAs -Before we close the door once and for all when it comes to the 2013 American Music Awards, we have to share what are two more notable performances from one of the biggest nights in music. Both had a great deal of anticipation going into the night, and both of them in some ways delivered when it comes to being controversial.

Let’s begin courtesy of Miley Cyrus, who gave what has to be one of the strangest performances ever on the show. Her “Wrecking Ball” was not exactly disturbing in the same way that he “We Can’t Stop” performance was at the MTV Video Music Awards, but it was haunting nonetheless. Was this one of the saddest things you’ve ever seen? We don’t want to look at some depressed kitten for the entire time that she performs this, especially when it reminds us specifically of that “Saturday Night Live” sketch featuring Bobby Moynihan talking a “little kitty cat.”

Then, you also had Lady Gaga trying to do her best to find a way to surprise you with her take on “Do What U Want” with R. Kelly, which to us felt somewhat like a very demented episode of “Scandal.” She was apparently some sort of Marilyn Monroe type intern trying to seduce the president, and it was raunchy. It wasn’t nearly as raunchy as what she did recently on “Saturday Night Live,” but we imagine that some parental groups are still upset about it. This is what they tend to do anytime that they let their kids watch “family” programming. We don’t know at this point why they don’t just assume that Gaga and Miley equal not family friendly programming.

Neither one of these artists was much of a winner at the show tonight, but that was largely due to the fact that their new music is a little too recent. The big winners instead included Justin Timberlake and also Taylor Swift, who won the top honor this year following the enormous success of her album “Red.”

Which one of these performances was your favorite? Share some of your thoughts below!
