‘The Originals’ spoilers: All about Eve … and Phoebe Tonkin

The latest -Did you miss “The Originals” on The CW tonight? If so, we definitely understand; but thanks to the show airing its premiere following “The Vampire Diaries,” it needed to skip a week in order to ensure that it and “Supernatural” would have the same exact episode count heading into the new year.

But when the show comes back next week, you’re going to see the arrival of a new face in Eve, a werewolf played by Tasha Ames who is out in a bayou. What can we really take from this? Not too much on a superficial level, but remember that Phoebe Tonkin’s Hayley came to Louisiana in part to try and find and understand some of her roots. Isn’t this more or less a perfect opportunity for her to do just that? We imagine so.

But what we could also see in this episode is a continued effort to actually show Hayley and Rebekah forming some sort of a friendship, and reminding us that there could be some female bonds on these sort of shows that do not have to revolve around the stereotypical sort of infighting and nastiness. Speaking to E! News on the subject, here is what Tonkin herself had to say on the subject:

“It’s really nice at the moment, especially because they’re the two girls in this crazy world and both have very similar upbringings. I think they kind of look at each other like the sisters they never had, which is really nice,” Tonkin explained. “They’re both very feisty, but I also like seeing girls get along with one another. A lot of time, especially on shows, the girls are written to be feisty and strong and to see them actually bond together as opposed to the bitchy comments back and forth I really enjoy. Hopefully we’ll see them be a real force to be reckoned with in a couple of episodes.”
