‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Is virginity a hot topic?

The Carrie Diaries -We are sure that for “Sex and the City” fans, next week’s new episode of “The Carrie Diaries” is probably going to open up a few old wounds when it comes to the subject of how the Carrie Bradshaw character chooses to lose her virginity. We originally were a big crusader of the “make it like the original show” campaign, but strangely, the success of another CW show in “Arrow” has caused us to somewhat change course. We can’t just sit here and heap effusive praise on one show for changing up the source material to suit their needs, and bash the others for it. Therefore, we’ll just what happens here on its own merits.

So with that out of the way, we turn now to an important episode airing next week where Ms. Bradshaw’s virginity is going become a major question, as she has an opportunity to really have her “first time” to a guy that she likes. You can see a few teasers of it in the promo below, which really highlights the occasion as a big deal. The official synopsis for the episode was released weeks ago, and obviously didn’t want to give away any major plot points. With that being said, there are still a few interesting things here worth pointing out:

“Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) spends an exciting day in the city with playwright Adam Weaver (guest star Chris Wood). Samantha (Lindsey Gort), who booked a new job as a nude art model, takes matters into her own hands when she sees a student’s painting she doesn’t like. When Sebastian’s (Austin Butler) mother (guest star Noelle Beck) announces she is marrying her tennis instructor boyfriend, he finds support in surprising places. Elsewhere, Dorrit’s (Stefania Own) boyfriend’s (guest star Evan Crooks) attempts to get closer to her backfire.”

Now that “The Carrie Diaries” is a few episodes into its run, we’re starting to get to know the characters pretty well. We like the inclusion of Samantha, and at this point we’re simply wondering how long Carrie can really go with her old circle of friends before getting immersed completely in this new world.
