‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: JoAnna Garcia comes over from ‘Once Upon a Time’

More -JoAnna Garcia Swisher is clearly having quite a turn on the guest-star circuit right now. She is in the middle right now of an arc of “Once Upon a Time” as Ariel, and following this, she also has another gig lined up on a comedy in “The Mindy Project.”

According to a new report from TVLine, the former “Reba” star is going to guest-star on an upcoming season 2 episode of the Mindy Kaling show as the sister to Adam Pally’s character of Dr. Peter. Pally was recently promoted to a series regular, and thanks to that, there are surely some other opportunities for her to appear in the future. (This initial appearance could end up expanding over into two depending on how the story goes.)

Prior to her “Once Upon a Time” gig, JoAnna was a series regular on another short-lived comedy in NBC’s “Animal Practice,” and her credits also include stints on “Privileged” and “Gossip Girl.” One thing about this gig is that it will allow her to work within the Los Angeles area (where most TV shows are still shot), whereas “Once Upon a Time” requires her to film up in Vancouver. Thanks to her performance as the famed character from “The Little Mermaid,” there are cries already for her to become a series regular in the future. However, she is only confirmed at present to be in one more episode, though that could fluctuate in the future depending on what the story holds beyond the adventures in Neverland. (This storyline should be coming to a close around the 11th installment of the season, which will be the fall finale.)

While “Once Upon a Time” is a lock to be back for a fourth season thanks to syndication alone, “The Mindy Project” is in much greater danger thanks to low ratings. Who knows if this appearance will help to spice things up at all?
