‘Last Comic Standing’ returning to NBC with Wanda Sykes as executive producer
Nonetheless, there have been some great comics introduced to us through this show, whether it be Doug Benson, Matt Kirshen, or Amy Schumer. Often, the losers of this competition are the ones that end up going far in their careers, and the winners are some that we don’t hear from much after that. One great example is when one season’s runner-up in Lavell Crawford ended up being a part of “Breaking Bad,” while we have no idea what the man who placed above him in Jon Reep is up to these days.
The new version of this show will air on NBC this summer, and will be executive-produced by a very funny comic in Wanda Sykes. There’s no word on a host.
What we are most curious about for now is the format. There is a part of us that really liked the live voting every week for this past season, but the challenges of the first few and the “living in a house” dynamic were all sorts of random and awkward. It was never fun to see comics admit that they were “funnier” than other comics, but you take the good with the bad. The most important thing with “Last Comic Standing” is that it introduces us to people that we’ll be watching and enjoying elsewhere. The only other show we regularly watch that fills that void is Comedy Central’s “@Midnight,” and there is no word yet on if this show is going to be back for another run of episodes.
What is your take on “Last Comic Standing” coming back: Are you excited to see it, or do you think it’ll just suffer in the ratings and get canceled again? Be sure to share your thoughts below!
