‘Shahs of Sunset’ season 3, episode 2 review: Lily and MJ’s dinner disaster

Shahs -Last week on “Shahs of Sunset,” we saw the beginning of an epic argument brewing over what was not that big of a deal: RSVP-ing to a fancy dinner hosted by Lily. MJ decided that she didn’t want to send in an electronic confirmation, and somehow this became one of the biggest arguments ever. Sometimes, rich people fight about very obnoxious things.

The #FirstWorldProblems continued in full on what ultimately a pretty uneventful episode this week, unless you consider more arguments stemming from this same thing. Lily arrived late to a separate dinner, and then proceeded to open up every single old wound that was there surrounding her previous engagement and MJ not sending up an invite. Nobody wanted to really say anything (mostly because no one wanted to be involved in this mess), but when GG finally said that MJ really should have sent in an invite (and she should have, since it’s not like she and Lily are the best of friends and she is going to bend over backwards for her), the beginnings of another war began.

Next week feels like a total showdown between MJ and GG, with much of it stemming still from their attempts to recover from what was an extremely strained season 2. GG spent most of that year in almost isolation and exile, which is what feels like is happening this time around with Lily. She’s like the party-goer who arrives, and everyone shuts down their conversations.

the only other part of this episode that really spoke to us was seeing Reza actually try to simplify his life in order to satisfy his boyfriend, and show that he can make a few changes for him in order to be happy and comfortable. This was important for so many reasons; while we joked about the #FirstWorldProblems earlier, here is a guy proving that the amount of money in his band account is not as important to him as the love that’s in his heart. Yes, that is super-cheesy and almost straight out of a romantic comedy, but it’s still true.

In the end, we just wish that more was happening on the show right now. It’s stuck in that all-familiar-to-Bravo early-season rut where it takes a few weeks for things to get going, and then by around episode 4 or 5 we’re immersed in a sea of craziness. Grade: C+.
