‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 4: First results for ‘Fan-Built’ episode are kind of hilarious

The latest -While not every episode of “Hawaii Five-0” may be particularly notable when it comes down to all of the individual details, we have to say already that there is something about the “Fan-Built Five-0” promotion that is going on this year that we find to be thoroughly gripping. While it could in some way look like the show basically telling the writers that they think the people could come up with a better story than they could, we’ve actually changed our mind on this somewhat. It instead feels like a little more of a challenge to these people to come up with a story that makes sense based on all of the individual components that are out there. It’s almost like a Mystery Box Challenge on an episode of “MasterChef.”

So now that the results of the fan voting are in, let’s go through all of these bit by bit.

Scene of the Crime – Chin Ho’s High School Reunion. These are always good settings for an episode of the show, at least in that it is a place where you can see so many different characters and learn a few things all about where they came from.

The Victim – A Macadamia Nut Tycoon. The idea of this just feels ridiculous, mostly because we have never heard of there really even being such a thing once in our entire lives. Then again, we don’t really live where there would be any sort of macadamia nut tycoon.

Murder Weapon – A Five-Inch Stiletto. Okay. This makes some sense given that you’re at a reunion.

The Evidence – A Toy Rocket. What? We guess that there has to be a kid involved in this somehow based on this, but we are not entirely sure how as of yet.

The Suspect – A Struggling Illusionist. We guess this makes sense. When you live in Hawaii, there are probably a million or so different things for you to do that you really do not need to think of hiring a magic act to perform at your party.

The Takedown – A Giant Maze. We don’t know where there is a giant maze in Hawaii, but this should be fun to see.

Do you like the sort of mad-lib structure of this episode? It’s not going to air on CBS until the spring of next year, but we will keep you posted of anything and everything that happens along the way. Also, you can see in the video below executive producer Peter Lenkov reading the results to the writers.
