ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 6 review: Did Fitz tell the truth on Operation Remington?

Take a look -On tonight’s “Scandal” season 3 episode, there were some great scenes, decisions made, and also great instances of character development, but we also have to admit that in comparison to some past hours, most of it was just set up for future weeks compared to giving us the answers that we want or need right away.

The biggest moment that could have been during the hour was finding out some more information on the subject of whether or not Fitz was actually involved in Operation Remington in a substantial way, but he instead chose to play the deflecting game, stating time and time again that he had “no idea” what Olivia Pope was talking about when she brought it up to him. He was not even so kind as to address her after she claimed that her mother was aboard the plane.

Then, you had the story of Olivia continuing to help Josie become a political force, and her proving yet again in the process why she is the queen of such things: Olivia just gets things done. She manipulates and schemes better than anyone, and Lisa Kudrow gave a speech about sexism so powerful, we want to vote for her for President.

There were also some side stories in here, including Quinn getting deeper and deeper into her training and Jake learning that Fitz put a team on him, but these haven’t reached their peak yet. Heck, with Quinn it feels like this has been building for a good season and a half now. Are we ever going to get there?

So this was a good episode, complete with more Sally Langston plotting a few little instances of Olivia’s father actually doing something seemingly nice for his daughter (sort of). It just wasn’t a great one. A stellar “Scandal” hour just can’t happen every week, now can it? Grade: B-.

There is one problem with the episode, and it is more of a logic bump than anything super-significant: The Gladiators faking a political ad knowing that it would rile up Josie enough to go on a tear, and also significantly help her campaign.
