‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, episode 6 preview: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley at odds

The latest -Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley may be at odds, but what characters are we talking about here? That is one of the crazy parts about “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, in that you can write about actors, but at the same time have there be a certain amount of mystery surrounding just which characters you are really talking about. Paul Wesley, for example, has Silas and Stefan, whereas Nina Dobrev has Elena, Katherine, and now also Silas’ “one true love” in Amara. She is playing someone who was still in high school at the time that she became a vampire, and then someone who would know ancient civilization far better than an iPad.

This scene that we have below from Thursday night’s “Handle With Care” is between Dobrev’s Elena and Wesley’s Silas, with a little bit of Ian Somerhalder’s Damon thrown in there to go along with it. Silas claims that he has a “plan” that could help to bring Bonnie back from the dead, but there are two problems with this:

1. The way in which he is acting in deciding that he wants this to be a boys’ trip only, since the last thing he wants to do is spend time around a woman that looks a heck of a lot like his first love.

2. The idea that this is Silas. While he may act like a man desperate to die, he is also someone who has been around for long enough to master the art of lying.

If nothing else, this video is fun, and shows that there are some interesting predicaments that are going to come up courtesy of there being all of these doppelgangers flying around. Eventually, though, we have to admit that he want to get back to just seeing vampires on the show again. The original batch of characters are the ones that we care about the most, and you really don’t need all of the other supernatural elements in here to make things exciting. Just the tension between humans and vampires could be enough, especially if it was ever looking like all of humanity was starting to discover the truth.

Are you down for more doppelganger-centered scenes? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Meanwhile, click here if you’re also curious in watching a clip that focuses more on the episode as a whole.
