TV’s Halloween costumes: What Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Ripa, ‘The View’ ladies are wearing
With today being Halloween, of course daytime TV is throwing itself a little party to try and one-up each other in terms of costumes. You want to do something creative enough to get headlines, and also different than any other show. Therefore, it’s almost too predictable to go as something like Miley Cyrus or the Royal Baby … but a number of people chose to do it anyway.
This is why, at least for now, our winner for best Halloween costume has to go to Ellen DeGeneres for her dressing up like Nicki Minaj did on her own show. It was racy, unexpected, and she had fun with it. Plus, we love seeing all of her audience dressed up in costume to. As almost always, Ellen manages to be at the top of the pack.
In the honor of unintentional comedy / embarrassment, the honor clearly has to go to the ladies of “The View” for going all out even to the point of it making it hard on them to do the show. For example, we had Barbara Walters sporting a grill as Katy Perry from her “Roar” video, and she could barely talk with it. Bill Getty’s Royal Baby, as mentioned, was a little uninspired, but points to Jenny McCarthy for going as Miley Cyrus’ tongue rather than just the singer herself. Also, Sherri Shepherd did her best Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones.”
Now, we turn to “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael,” which was the show that we really wanted to like. Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan clearly went all out here to try and create costumes that everyone was going to want to see, but didn’t they do a little bit too much in the with it? We think so, since one good costume each is better than a ton of costumes that are only okay. It loses some of the creativity when you try to dress up as everything under the sun, or at least we seem to think so.
There are some good ones in here, though, including a take on “Breaking Bad” and Tiger Woods with Lindsey Vonn.
