‘Dancing with the Stars’ 17: Cher to guest-judge for Len Goodman next week
Instead, the big “announcement” (rumors aside) was merely that Len would be absent from the ballroom next week as he tries to manage doing both this show and “Strictly Come Dancing” in the UK, and he will be replaced next week by someone who is certainly an iconic entertainer in Cher. The “Turn Back Time” singer has been almost everywhere in the talent TV circuit these days, given that she was a guest mentor on “The Voice” earlier this season, and also performed on the British version of “The X Factor.”
There is also another interesting connection between Cher and the ballroom competition, given that her son Chaz Bono previous was a contestant a few years ago and was certainly one of the more controversial to the show’s conservative viewing audience. However, he nonetheless made it pretty far, and with him being on the show we saw his mother make many appearances throughout the season. She does not have the sort of extensive experience in ballroom dancing that previous guest judge Julianne Hough had during her stint on the show this week; however, Hough’s appearance did cause some controversy when she insinuated that her brother Derek’s good friend Mark Ballas tries to command attention over the people that he is dancing with, and he and partner Christina Milian were eliminated soon after that.
