‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15 spoilers: The latest challenge for Mariska Hargitay’s Benson

Law & Order: SVU logoThe great news for Mariska Hargitay’s character of Benson on “Law & Order: SVU”? That she has an opportunity to actually take a major step forward in her career courtesy of the Sergent’s exam. However, she is starting to realize that with this new sort of honor comes a new sort of pressure. While she has been able to handle the difficult struggle of moving past the incident in the premiere, that is going to change somewhat as she starts to feel more weight than ever to replace Munch in the position.

So how will this pressure start to manifest itself, and appear over time? For some more on that, we turn to executive producer Warren Leight, who had the following to say on the subject of the character’s future to TV Guide:

“So far her recovery has been going well, but it’s not a steady, straight ascent. When you have extra pressures on you and the way that you deal with people you work with suddenly changes, this transition is not going to be seamless … I think there will be some slips along the way.”

As for when those slips will come, the truth here is that it will likely be unpredictable. Since you don’t know how Benson’s mind is going to process what she went through, it is going to be hard for her to figure out just how she is going to be able to keep it together at just about every moment in which she needs to. For now, she will just continue to tackle some of the all-familiar missions in New York City, and hope that the struggles do not find a way to manifest themselves again.
