‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: More details on Matthew Gray Gubler’s next episode
Matthew Gray Gubler has to be one of the busier guys on procedural television these days. Not only does he star as Dr. Spencer Reid on “Criminal Minds” (and has appeared in almost all of the episodes over the course of the show’s run, but he is also a fairly regular member of the directing rotation. He last directed an episode in the spring, and come November 6, he is going to find himself back in the chair again for an hour entitled “Gatekeeper,” which definitely has its fair share of creepy undertones affiliated with it.
Just in case the title alone did not give you the willies, finding out some details about a new sort of Boston Strangler could. Just take a look at the full synopsis for the episode below for more details:
“After a series of strangulations in Boston, the BAU looks for an UnSub who likes to keep mementos of the victims, and the team wonders if a common link to the casualties could lead them to the culprit. Meanwhile, the BAU rallies around Rossi when his favorite bar is on the verge of closing.”
When you really stop for a second and think about it, there is no way that we can imagine two stories that could be more opposite if they tried. From one vantage point, we have story that is dark, twisted, and serious, which is what we’ve come to expect from “Criminal Minds” these days, and on the other hand we have a story that could be far lighter when it comes to Rossi and his bar drama. Someone call Jon Taffer; he’ll know what to do! Sadly, there’s probably not going to be a “Bar Rescue” – “Criminal Minds” crossover in the near future, and this story will instead be one to just take away from some of the suffering that these characters are almost constantly going through. You have to have an impervious sort of thick skin to do this job, and something even so small as a favorite restaurant can be a nice way to ease the tension.
Before you even get to that episode, though, there are still some other interesting stories coming up, including one that brings you much deeper into the relationship between JJ and newcomer Mateo Cruz. For more on that, just click here to see what AJ Cook has to say.
