‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 6 review: Anna Camp sole highlight of slow episode
The allure of a senseless hook-up is what drew him in, and from here we just had a list of more increasingly tragic circumstances for the two as he was forced at one point to even dine with her parents. While we were troubled slightly by the timeline, given that Jeannette was supposedly the last woman that he was going to be with. Then again, he wasn’t really “with” Camp’s character of Cassie … everyone just assumed that he was because of what happened previously.
Elsewhere, this was yet another slow-moving episode that did not really go anywhere until the final seconds, when it was revealed that Daphne had actually texted Lily with the news that Marshall decided to become a judge … at least seemingly. Barney and Robin were forced to find a new officiant after they accidentally killed the previously one by explaining the story of how they “really” met (they had lied the first time they told the story). The Marshall story is just taking far too long, and while we are seeing Barney and Robin have a good time together, the major question is still not being asked here: Where in the world is the Mother? For some reason, they didn’t even show her face at the train station over just stock footage with the umbrella. That’s just lazy.
So the promise of the “How I Met Your Mother” premiere is in the end still making us feel let down right now, and outside of a few good jokes here and there, Camp was the only person who really made us life. To next week, and let’s hope for improvement. Grade: C+.
