‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6: Halloween special, ‘Orphan Black’ star’s return pushed back
Here’s some more frustrating news for everyone hoping to see more of Pawnee, Indiana: “Parks and Recreation” is going to make you wait a little while longer. The next three episodes, that includes the return of “Orphan Black’s” Tatiana Maslany as Tom’s love interest and a Halloween special, are being pushed back. Why? With “Welcome to the Family” now canceled, NBC wants to ensure that there is new programming in place to keep this hour block fresh for the November sweeps. They also don’t want “Sean Saves the World” to have a lead-in of nothing.
Therefore, this is the situation that we are looking at here. Thursday night, “The Voice” is going to air a special edition of their Battle Rounds. Then, the following week will see a “Saturday Night Live” holiday special. Following this on November 7, another edition of “The Voice” will air at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Yes, NBC has no problem whatsoever shamelessly milking this singing competition for almost everything it’s worth.
So as for when these episodes will air, NBC will do some catch-up starting on November 14, when there will be back-to-back episodes of the show both this and the following week. That means that you will have to wait until mid-November to celebrate Halloween in Pawnee, which is pretty frustrating but not altogether surprising given that this is NBC we’re talking about here. The only consolation we can give fans is that this seems to be a move to give the network better ratings across the board, and is not some sort of deliberate slam on “Parks and Recreation” for not faring well against “The Big Bang Theory.” (After all, no matter how hard the network tries nothing can bring this beast down.)
What do you think about these moves, and do you find it incredibly annoying when you have to see things really messed up in terms of the timeline? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below!
