‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: Simon Baker, ‘The Red Tattoo,’ and the Red John homestretch
By the midway point of “The Mentalist” season 6, the assumption that many are making is that the show is going to be completely devoid of the menace known as Red John. This means new stories, new mysteries, and something that will shake up the foundation on which the show is founded. There is no longer a reason to sit around and wonder when the Red John story is finally going to end, since now we know. Instead, the mystery that we have to solve here is just what sort of mystery will come next.
But before we arrive at most of that, we must take a look at what Simon Baker will be up to in “The Red Tattoo,” the sixth episode of the season and one that its going to set the stage for what could be the greatest showdown that the series has had over the course of its history. You can catch a few of the first details in the synopsis below, though many more are sure to come on Sunday night, after the next new episode airs:
“When a prominent member of Visualize is mysteriously killed, Jane investigates in the hopes that the case will provide a clue that will lead him to Red John.”
Has this season done a good job of letting us know who are the most-likely suspects to be Red John? The answer to that is really somewhere between yes and no. While they have done a very good job of allowing us to know the suspects better, there is nothing that is concrete enough to say that any of them are really in the running. Maybe this episode will be the one to change things, and really start us on a path to getting all of the answers that we’ve been waiting for. Time will tell.

I know the Red John story was the catalyst for Jane’s new profession but it is boring. I cared a little last season but not so much this season. I will probably begin watching again once the current saga is finished and we get back to what he was doing in the first season.

I really like the Mentalist but can’t wait for this Red John story to end. It just seems like it has dragged on forever as I want them to get back to solving mysteries.
