‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 3 preview: The prelude to Van Pelt, Rigsby’s wedding
Before we turn to solving the Red John case on “The Mentalist” season 6, there is another order of business that has to be attended to and that is making sure to give fans of Van Pelt and Rigsby all of the closure that they need before giving them their farewell. As you probably heard earlier this fall, the two are leaving the show along with the end of the Red John case, which serves as the perfect opportunity for all parties involved to take a deep breath and start fresh. So how are these two saying goodbye? Think along the lines of a wedding.
While you don’t see a ceremony for the two in the sneak peek below from the episode tonight, you can at least see how the two end up getting to the point where they walk down the aisle. The idea of a wedding is floated out there, and the two obviously agree to make a go of it.
What does this mean for Patrick Jane? Think along the lines of it giving him an opportunity to scope out another possible Red John suspect, though he is also happy for his friends and colleagues. Since this is a show all about solving murders, do really think that they are going to give us a full hour of television without some sort of mystery attached? Silly, silly readers! That’s not going to happen.
In getting back to the wedding, we are very much thrilled to see it happen after such an exhausting delay to get to this point. The primary issue that we have with it is simply that the show, for whatever reason, decided to cram so much of it into one episode. We wish there was some more buildup to it, and not a “let’s get married” episode that comes somewhat out of a blue based on a household discussion. Producers obviously wanted to make sure that it was resolved before moving forward to the drama of Red John.
