‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Is trouble for Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev ahead?

Do you think that one of your favorite “Vampire Diaries” couples could be on the verge of a major breakup? Well if so, you’re right; however, the question is which one? The reason that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev’s Elena and Damon have to be one of the top contenders here is that he’s already been keeping things from her in the brief time they have been togetrher. Not only that, but she also has some feelings for Stefan that don’t look like they are going away any time soon.

What we can say about the story ahead is that while Damon and Elena may be okay for the immediate future, one of the show’s major couples will not be. According to E! News, either “Delena” or Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) will be done within the span of a few episodes, and will therefore have a new story to tell.

It’s not that we don’t like Forwood (as their fans call them), but Caroline and Tyler would be the more logical choice right now to break up given what they’ve been through. Caroline is already mad at Tyler for him deferring his education for the time being, and they’ve also more or less been together for a while now. Damon and Elena are something new and exciting, and to end their relationship after years of buildup would almost be like an “America’s Funniest Home Videos” sketch where someone gets punched in the groin. Not cool.
