‘The X Factor’ USA preview: Paulina Rubio’s decision; more from Carlito Olivero, Rachel Potter

The latest -Tonight on “The X Factor” USA, we have the continuation of the (cue dramatic music) Four-Chair Challenge, the obnoxious round where contestants have to sing to try to win chairs, or even take them away from people who have already made it into the next phase of the competition. That alone is a pretty sad proposition, since you’re finding success while simultaneously taking it from someone else.

But based on the preview below, the drama is going to be the worst on Team Paulina Rubio, where she has the terrible task of trying to figure out just who in the world to keep on her team. Whatever happens, she apparently incites a revolt both on the judges’ panel and also with the people in the audience. Personally, we don’t know what it could be about; Carolito Olivero and Josh Levi are the two obvious standouts from this category, and we don’t really have the investment in anyone else.

Speaking of Carlito, he is one of the many artists featured in the extended Google Hangout video below along with Rachel Potter, Lillie McCloud, and some other artists from this season. If you want to have an opportunity to hear some more news about some of your favorite contestants, this is the place to do so. It’s also a little welcome to hear them speak without the confines of editing, which has really created some issues for Lillie this season especially when it comes to her past.

But are any of these people going to become genuine stars? Tonight’s episode is one of the steps to making that happen, but they need to show both talent and charisma in the live rounds if they really want to make it. It’s very hard to find lasting success from a singing show these days, but if Simon Cowell sees something, he can put in the money and time to really make you into a star.
