‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 3 review: Bernadette is the meanest competitor ever
The pairings were Sheldon and Penny, Howard and Amy, and also Bernadette and Leonard. The person who clearly had it the worst here was Leonard, mostly because Howard’s wife managed to abuse Leonard verbally for almost the entire episode. Meanwhile, it basically became an entire Neil Diamond tribute for Howard and Amy, and Sheldon and Penny mostly dealt with the fact that he was his usual self, and Penny was constantly ragged on about being not smart enough to be good at this.
The end results of this were very, very funny, and it felt almost like this episode could have been an hour long and been just as (if not even more) effective. This is some of the downside that comes with coming up with such a great idea, since the only flaw in it was that it would have been great to see some of these unusual pairings end up leading to a new moment or two where we actually got an opportunity to get to know something new about the characters. Instead, it was just a series of jokes, and a great twist at the end from Raj that everyone was a winner and it ended up leading to a revolt.

I thought it was hilarious. It made me wish I had that many friends who actually get along as well as these do. I loved how Amy really seemed to appreciate being included. There seemed to be joy radiating from her during the entire show, even while listening to Raj’s introduction and explanation of the game rules. Although I felt bad for Leonard, Bernadette’s willow moment was epic.
