‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episodes 1 and 2 review: Who died, and who’s engaged?
Tonight’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode was at times a marathon rather than a race, as there was a whopping two hours worth of footage to get through. Not only did you have to close the door on the stories from the spring, but you also had to establish some of the key points that will be talked about for most of the fall.
One thing that everyone wanted to get an answer to was the fate of Richard Webber, and for the time being, it looks like he is going to make it to the other side. When you are able to make it through two episodes after a cliffhanger, odds are that this is a step in the right direction.
Death – We may as well get this out of the way. The latest person to meet the Reaper on a show that seems to constantly surround itself with death is none other than intern Heather, whose passing we saw coming. This was the only intern that we saw without a promotion to series regular, and the writing was on the wall that she would leave in some way.
While intern storylines may be annoying, there was at least a nice moment in here as this group realized that it needed to come together in order to help take care of Heather’s mom.
April and Jackson – Are they together, or aren’t they together? April wanted to be with Matthew and then didn’t want to be with Matthew; she is basically her own storm of emotion, but in the end she chose her EMT man to be her guy rather than Jackson. Tough to hear? Certainly for fans that were shipping that couple hard and often.
Callie and Arizona – Speaking of stories that were tough for everyone to hear, it looks as though this beloved couple is going south after the cheating from the finale. If there is any hope for these two, it is going to take a while.
Cristina and Owen – They are going to be friends … or not. They cannot be friends, which is mostly because they cannot keep their hands off of each other.
Meredith and Derek – And, they are parents again! Baby Bailey is happy and healthy, and they are the only people right now that have most of everything right in their world.
