‘The Bridge’ episode 12 preview: The path to the finale
Depending on how you want to look at it, the finale to FX’s “The Bridge” could have very well taken place last week courtesy of the story of David Hill getting arrested and Gus being killed off. It was basically the equivalent of someone ripping out the kid’s heart, and then forcing Marco Ruiz to sit there and stare at it. It all comes down to the question of punishment; this is not a man who can be identified in many ways as a “good person,” but at the same time, he clearly never meant for Hill’s wife to die. He is basically responsible for a chain of events that led to the death of his own son, and nothing more.
So what happens next over the coming weeks? The first thing that you can easily predict is that there is going to be much more to say when it comes to Charlotte and Stephen. These two series regulars have stuck around all season, and we still don’t really understand why most of their story matters save for the small amount of time that they were woven into the main plot. Maybe this changes now.
One other thing to tease is Sonya trying to work herself back into Marco’s life after everything that transpired at the end of last week’s episode. He told her that they were not friends, but this to us came more from a position of anger than it did honesty. He may have wanted that revenge, but it would have come at the expense of his own freedom forever and he wouldn’t want that.
