‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: First look at JoAnna Garcia’s Ariel

In some ways, JoAnna Garcia has her work cut out for her when it comes to playing Ariel on “Once Upon a Time” season 3. Not only does she have to play a character who thrives on both the land and in the sea, but she has to wander around Vancouver (hardly the warmest place at times) wearing the skimpiest outfits out of anyone on the cast.

While there are still many details to be revealed about the character, the photos here give you a good impression of just what to expect from her. The primary shot here (first posted by TV Guide) shows her alongside Prince Eric in what is likely a flashback to another time for the character. Show creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have promised that there are going to be all sorts of subtle little nods to the classic Disney movie sprinkled throughout the show, even including an allusion to a fork a.k.a. a very small trident.

As for an adversary, the biggest theory out there right now is that Regina is more or less the show’s version of Ursula, which makes some sense given that we haven’t heard about there being any other guest star that is gong to come on the show in the role. Prior to learning her story, Horowitz and Kitsis say that we are going to see that Ariel ends up playing a big role in saving the lives of one of the show’s beloved characters. She is someone that the majority of fans have been waiting to see for quite some time, so suffice it to say that there is probably some pressure in order to get this story right.
