NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 5: Adam Levine on hopes to beat Blake Shelton

Take a look -

Tonight, we have the return of “The Voice” to NBC, and this year we could have what is very well the most competitive one yet among the coaches. Only two of them have won in Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and the past three years have been dominated by the charismatic country superstar.

So is there really a way in which to take Blake down a notch? That is going to be what Adam and the rest of the coaches try to figure out this year. In the video below, for example, Adam details to him what he needs to do in order to wrestle the title away from Blake; but, he also says that in the end, there is no prize that he gets from winning “The Voice.” It’s instead all about trying to help the artists get to the next level, and have a little more success in their careers. While there has yet to be a superstar born from this show, many of them have at least managed to have better careers moving forward than they did prior to signing up.

Do we ever see Blake not winning moving forward? It’s going to take a singer that can unify the rest of the country to make it happen. Blake has a huge following, gets almost all of the country acts (who also have huge followings), and then gets them to perform songs that are right in that voting block’s wheelhouse. Of course, many singers are going to want to choose Blake to work with because of his resume, but we would caution most of them here to remember that last year, he basically cut everyone that was not in a genre of music that he was familiar with.
