NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5: See the new Comedy Central trailer
Usually when you are talking about a trailer for a show that is entering syndication, it’s just highlights of everything that has actually happened on the show over the years. Luckily, what we have to share today for “Community” is not that at all.
Instead, the video below for “Community,” which is set to air every Friday on Comedy Central is all kinds of silly, and shows off that the show has a great sense of humor about the fact that its viewership is tiny to begin with. The fact that it is being syndicated anywhere is a testament to just how many fans there really are. We appreciate that there is some new footage in here, even if it is just with Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, and a small cameo from Jim Rash in the end.
As for some of the highlights, the show and studio Sony TV chose to make it clear to possible newbies that this is a silly show with everything from paintball to blanket forts and students losing their minds. It didn’t really explain much of the plot, but you don’t really need to know much save for the fact that these people are students at a community college. Once you have that figured out, you’re really pretty much done.
The biggest hope here is that shifting to cable will give the show a ratings bump for new episodes, as it gives more viewers the chance to find out what the hype is about. The only unfortunate thing is that Comedy Central is hardly airing this on a night with big ratings.
Overall, what do you think: Is this trailer fun, and will “Community” benefit in a big way from this extra promotion? Be sure to share your thoughts below! Meanwhile, pay a visit to the link here if you’re interested in seeing something more about a returning guest star for this upcoming fifth season. Sadly, there is no premiere date for season 5 yet, but we should find it out a little later this fall.
