‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Fifth Harmony hit ‘Today’s Top 10,’ David Correy and the World Cup

The latest -Remember David Correy from “The X Factor” USA last season? He was a surprisingly early boot from L.A. Reid’s team, given that he was an early standout from the auditions and had a different sort of look / charisma about him.

However, it looks like you may be seeing more of Correy now than many other artists from this past season who went further. As it was revealed last week, he has the honor of being the singer for the Coca-Cola World Cup Anthem “The World is Ours.” (You can see the lyric video for it below.) Given that Correy is of Brazilian heritage and the soccer tournament is being held this year in Rio de Janeiro, his participation should not come as much of a surprise at all. The song also features Brazilian percussion troupe Monobloco.

While this song is not guaranteed success beyond just Coca-Cola promotions, it should be noted that the World Cup anthem four years ago, the K’NAAN track “Wavin’ Flag,” ended up being a huge hit in Canada and some other parts of the world.

Fifth Harmony on “Today’s Top Ten” – Fifth Harmony has been traveling quite a bit as of late courtesy of their “I Wish” Tour with Cher Lloyd, and while up in Canada, the ladies filmed some segments for a “Today’s Top 10” special themed around some of the greatest girl groups of all time. You can see all of the highlights in the via below (courtesy of this YouTube user), and for those Canadians who want to see them, their official schedule says that the ladies will be returning in November to Toronto.

Be sure to head on over to this link later tonight, as we are going to have a full review up very soon for the new episode of “The X Factor” airing tonight.
