‘Dexter’ season 8, episode 12 preview: Another look at series finale (video)

Just in case seeing the promo at the end of last night’s “Dexter” was not enough for you to get your blood boiling a little bit for the upcoming series finale, perhaps the new promo released by Showtime will do the trick. In the video below, you see everything from violence to gore to surprises galore, including Deb potentially going missing in the hospital and Oliver Saxon still on the loose.

What is interesting in some ways is that this finale mirrors the end of the first season, where Dexter had to save Deb. However, the frustrating part of it this time around is that we are looking at someone who has supposedly grown quite a bit since the beginning of the series, and having her in harm’s way again does not really feel enough like growth. It is also hard to figure out whether or not we are actually going to see Deb live to see the end credits. But if Saxon meant to kill her, why didn’t he get off more than one shot? That is one of the many mysteries that we have right now going into this.

For those of you who are “Ray Donovan” fans, the promo also does include some footage of the other Showtime series airing on Sunday nights. We do wish, though, that the network didn’t do things like this, since it mostly makes everyone complain about Ray Donovan being included. (It’s almost like the “Low Winter Sun” effect following “Breaking Bad.”)
